  • when: Mon May 29 - Sun June 4.
  • format: a link to your blog post (or the content of it), a tweet/thread, photo of a handwritten page, or a voice note.
  • a short kickoff call Mon 5 pm MT to get a chance to share your intentions, and ask any clarifying questions (optional!)

how to join:

  • if you don’t have a site and would like to have your posts hosted here, send me the title + content via iMessage or email.
    • posts should be in markdown format; if that doesn’t work for you, send me a message and I’ll gladly help you out.
    • if you are curious about starting your own blog, I recommend Blot (what this is hosted on) or Substack.

why?

The last time my friends and I played this game, I was astonished at how fun and generative it was. I believe the reasons for that came down to:

  • the importance of simply writing. “the most important thing when you’re starting a youtube channel or blog or even a twitter account or whatever is… that you make the next video, write the next blogpost, post the next tweet. [also] that you enjoy the process and you look forward to making stuff”

  • we did it together. having the soft social pressure of having something to show gave me just enough energy to push myself that extra mile.

  • it’s bounded. 7 posts in 1 week. we all have commitments; this doesn’t have to be a grand thing to be fun and interesting.
